What is a Certified Trichologist?

A Certified Trichologist (CT) has successfully completed a Trichology Certification Course at an accredited school on the science of the structure and function of the human hair and scalp.  Our study includes the body systems, nutrition, chemistry, physiology of the hair, skin and hair care processes.

What are the differences between trichologists and dermatologists?

Trichology is the holistic approach to health, not just the treatment of the hair and scalp. Trichologists place emphasis on the clients’ diet, exercise, and other elements of his or her lifestyle. We must consider all possible causes and address them in order to get to the root of the problem. Dermatologists specialize in conditions involving skin, hair and nails. The conditions can include bacteria, infections and fungi but are not limited to those conditions. Trichologists work directly with dermatologist and other doctors to enhance the patient/client experience by having advanced specialized knowledge of the scalp, hair and the body systems. This expertise can stop or reduce hair fall, improve client health, manage certain scalp conditions and produce thicker fuller hair.

What types of hair loss problems can a trichologist manage?

Hair loss from chemotherapy or other medications, anemia, autoimmune deficiency, thyroid deficiency, most types of alopecia.
