Trichology is the science of the structure, function, and diseases of the human hair and scalp. Founded in London in 1902, trichology is the para~medical science of the structure, functions of the scalp, hair, hair loss and associated scalp disorders.
What is a certified trichologist?
A certified trichologist has successfully completed a trichology certification course that on average takes two and a half years to complete at an accredited school that has a license in their state. Certified trichologists have extensive understanding of how the body systems affect hair growth and hair loss cycles. Our study includes chemistry, the cells and tissues, organ systems, anatomy and physiology of the scalp, skin, hair and can identify the different types of alopecias. Certified trichologists have a customized regime to improve the person’s quality of life by the use of nutrition, stress management and balancing the body overall. *NOTE* Certified trichologists are not doctors.
