Many people are changing their hair color these days. Whether it’s temporary or permanent, you want your hair to look its best. Matching your hair color with your skin tone always brings out the best qualities in both your hair and skin. Check out these guidelines for matching your hair color with your skin tone!

Is your skin warm or cool?

The first thing you need to do is determine if your skin tone is warm or cool. Your veins are the best indicator of this. A warm skin tone will give your veins a greenish tint. A cool skin tone usually makes for blue or purple veins.

What color are your eyes?

Your eyes are another indicator of which skin tone you have. When we say this, we don’t mean if you have green eyes, you pick one color, and if you have brown eyes, select another. You need to look at the little details in your eyes. Having blue or green shades in your eyes generally means you have cool skin. If you find flecks of gold, you typically have warm-toned skin.

What does this mean?

How does all of this help in choosing a hair color? Well, cool-toned skin usually pairs well with reds, golden blondes, and brunettes. This is because these colors will counterbalance the pink in your cool skin by nearly matching it. Warm-toned skin goes well with colors that have mahogany or copper tones in them. These have more of a contrast effect with warm tones in your skin than the balancing effect of cool tones.
